This 24 hour class is designed to be taught to agency trainers, chaplains and other support personnel who are experienced instructors in the areas of crisis intervention, peer support, critical incident stress management, hostage negotiations, chaplains and other support personnel who work within an emergency service agency. This class will utilize the POST training video “Preventing Law Enforcement Suicide” exposing them to the five major modules of the video: Responsibility, Postvention, Prevention, Intervention and Maintaining Balance. Students will work in small groups, developing training modules and learning activities directly linked to the five major modules in the video, and then have the students administer these training modules to other members of the class. These modules could be used in new employee orientations; roll call training, in-service training sessions, pre-separation training sessions as well as outside agency requests for training. Students have the opportunity to share their personal knowledge and experience with each other, in addition to acquiring new skills, knowledge and experience, and will walk away with many personal networks and resources in place.
